AprilA Tribute to Burt BacharachFriday April 18, 2008 In a career that spans over fifty years, Burt Bacharach has shown us that changing time signatures, lush harmonies, strings, horns and timpani have a well-deserved and much-appreciated place in American popular music. In the 60’s and 70’s with lyricist, Hal David, and brand-spanking-new vocalist, Dionne Warwick, he had us asking “Do You Know the Way to San Jose?”, confessing “I Say a Little Prayer for You” and questioning an inscrutable young man named “Alfie”. Join us along with our Guest Artist Nadine Shanti, and enjoy the music and lifetime of this composer who unarguably forged the bridge between Tin Pan Alley, the Brill Building, Broadway and Rock and Roll.
